I live in a beautiful Georgian House once owned by Captain Edward John Smith of Titanic from 1898.
Captain Smith was a loved man, it is said he was like a kindly uncle, known as the millionaires Captain.
He sailed his last ship (Olympic) and was to retire here with his wife Eleanor, daughter Mel and In-laws.

A telephone call to Waterloo 271, from his friend and neighbour Bruce Ismay of White Star Line changed all best laid plans.   Invited to be at the helm of Titanic - how could he refuse this final voyage.

I knew my house was special - but didnt know why

It was the researchers of the James Cameron epic film 'Titanic' who called to my home to request permission to film the opening scenes from the house. Permission granted in 1994.
In the event they filmed opening scenes from Southampton docks, to my disappointment.

This was the first I knew he lived here...
Yet 30 years earlier I had a dream, wrote details in my diary.  Its spooky, its true, and its all in my book.
